This Privacy Policy explains how llllll-mater handles information when you take part in a live performance through the platform. By using the chatroom you agree to the terms below.

    Who is responsible

The platform is operated by Pedro Melo Alves, the author of the performance work. Questions about your data, requests for content removal, or withdrawal of consent should be sent to hello@rafaelgoncalves.pt.

    What we collect

We deliberately collect as little as possible. We do not ask for your name, email address, age, location, or any other directly identifying information.

    The platform stores:

    • An anonymous client key — a random identifier saved in your browser's local storage so the same participant number is reassigned to you if you reload the page.
    • Your participant number and the character assigned to you for the show.
    • The text and images you choose to post in the chatroom.
    • Standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, browser type) kept temporarily for security and debugging.

If you voluntarily type personal information into the chat — your name, contact details, anyone else's data — that information becomes part of the message and is treated like the rest of the content. You are responsible for what you choose to disclose.

    How we use it

The information you submit is used to:

    • Run the chatroom during the live performance.
    • Display the conversation publicly to the audience present at the venue and online.
    • Archive the conversation as documentation of the work.
    • Re-present the work in future performances, exhibitions, screenings, publications, and other contexts chosen by the author.
    • Inform the development of related artistic works.

    Legal basis

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), processing is based on:

    • Your explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a)) for the content you post and its re-use as described above. You give this consent by ticking the consent boxes before entering the chatroom.
    • Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) for short-term server logs used to keep the platform secure and operational.

    How long we keep it

    • Chat messages, images, participant numbers, and client keys are retained as part of the work's archive for as long as the work remains active. There is no fixed expiry date because the archive is itself part of the artistic outcome.
    • Server logs are kept for up to 30 days and then deleted.
    • On request (see “Your rights” below) we will remove individual contributions from the archive where it is technically possible to do so.

    Who can see it

Messages posted in the chatroom are visible to everyone present at the show — both online participants and the live audience at the venue. The archived conversation may subsequently be shown in future performances, projections, gallery installations, online publications, press materials, or other contexts chosen by the author of the work.

    Where your data is stored

The platform is hosted on servers located in the European Union. No data is intentionally transferred outside the EU. Where third-party tools (for example a content delivery network) require data to transit through their infrastructure, we rely on the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

    Security

Traffic between your browser and the platform is encrypted using HTTPS. Access to the underlying content is restricted to the author and a limited number of collaborators. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the data, but no online platform can guarantee absolute security.

    Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

    • Access the data we hold that relates to you.
    • Ask for it to be corrected or deleted.
    • Withdraw your consent at any time.
    • Object to or restrict processing.
    • Receive your data in a portable format where applicable.

Because we do not link contributions to your real identity, we may not be able to locate your messages without your help. To request deletion of a specific message, send the message text — or a screenshot showing the participant number and content — to hello@rafaelgoncalves.pt. We will respond within 30 days.

You can also withdraw consent unilaterally by closing the chatroom and clearing your browser's local storage; future contributions will then no longer be associated with your previous participant number. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

    Right to complain

If you believe your data has been handled in breach of the GDPR you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese supervisory authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD) — www.cnpd.pt.

    Storage in your browser

The platform stores small pieces of data in your browser using localStorage and sessionStorage. These are not cookies and are not shared with third parties. They allow the platform to remember your participant number and that you have already given consent during the current session. Clearing your browser data will remove them.

    Minors

The platform is not intended for users under 16 years of age. If you are under 16, please do not submit any content. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that a minor has submitted content, they can request its removal at the contact address above.

    Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated to reflect changes in the platform or in applicable law. The current version is always available at this URL. Material changes will be announced before they take effect, where possible.

    Effective date

This version of the policy is effective from May 2026.
